In our family, buying birthday and holiday gifts has been made a lot easier by having a family wish list as a group on Yahoo. Each child or person creates their own list [or if they are too young, their parents create a list for them]. No more guessing about what they most wish for. Things that you purchase can be indicated as “bought”, keeping the list fresh and updated at all times. You can print out the list and take it with you to the store. In many cases, the list contains a direct link to the product online, so you can click on it and go there fast. How cool is that?

People are buying more than ever online — it saves gas, standing in long lines, schlepping the stuff out of the car [as opposed to having it either delivered directly to the recipient [with gift-wrapping if you so choose], or delivered to your own front door so that you can experience the whole gift-wrapping thing yourself.

Here’s some of the items the kids in our family are wishing for:

  1. Halo Reach video game
  2. Toy Story 3 DVD
  3. Razor Spark Scooter
  4. 4-Pack New State of the Art Wristwatch Walkie Talkie
  5. Wii Play with Remote
  6. Xbox 360 4 GB Console with Kinect
You can watch the amazing video of Microsoft’s intro to Kinect here: Xbox Project Natal is Now Kinect
  7. Dance Star Mickey – This is an extremely hot item.
Mickey moonwalks, does the mambo, and more. There are six different songs with styles including, disco, Latin techno, and the Moonwalk. Dance Star Mickey is also packed with interactive games that will have children and parents laughing and dancing along. Manufacturer recommended age: 18 months – 6 years
  8. Mattel’s Mind-Flex Game Children and adults guide a foam ball through obstacles using the power of their minds. Players learn to alternately focus and relax their minds, making the ball alternately rise and fall. An instruction manual gives concentration and relaxation techniques for practice exercises.

Then there’s the traditional items like sleds, dolls, bikes, and ice-skates. Action figures go over big, as do building blocks and miniature collectible cars and trucks such as Hot Wheels.
